Your guide to using Yelling Ant
Welcome to the Yelling Ant Help Center. Whether you're just getting started, looking after a colony you moderate, or trying to sort out a login problem, you'll find plain-language answers below. Browse the topics or use your browser's search (Ctrl/Cmd + F) to jump straight to what you need.
Overview
Yelling Ant is a place to find and build communities, called colonies around the topics you care about. You can post text, links, images, and polls, join conversations in the comments, and vote on the content you find most useful or interesting.
Here's a quick overview if you're short on time:
- Colonies are run by volunteer moderators.
Each colony sets its own rules and is looked after by moderators who use tools like auto-mod, the mod queue, and a colony wiki to keep discussions on track.
- Platform staff back up every colony.
Beyond individual moderators, our sitewide safety team enforces the Yelling Ant content policy across the whole platform.
- You control your privacy and safety settings.
You can manage what people see about you, block or mute accounts, and adjust your notification preferences at any time from your account settings.
- Rewards and coins recognize good contributions.
Earn rewards for posts and comments the community values, or pick up coins to send to others.
- Have questions? We've got answers.
The topics below cover the most common questions, and our support team is always available if you need more help.
The sections below walk through account basics, posting, colonies, moderation, safety, privacy, rewards, advertising, and troubleshooting, in roughly the order you'll need them.
- Getting StartedCreating an account
Sign up: Tap Sign Up, choose a username, and verify your email or phone number to activate your account.
Profile: Add a display picture and bio from your profile page so other members recognize you.
Username changes: You can update your username once every 30 days from Account Settings.
Finding and joining coloniesSearch: Use the search bar to find colonies by topic, or browse the Explore page for suggestions.
Join: Tap Join on any colony page to start seeing its posts in your feed.
Personalized feed: Your home feed adjusts over time based on the colonies you join and the posts you vote on.
First stepsRead a colony's rules before posting, join a few discussions, and introduce yourself if the colony welcomes it.
- Posting & Commenting
You can share four kinds of posts in most colonies, and join the discussion underneath any post:
Text posts for write-ups, questions, and discussions.
Link posts to share an article or page from elsewhere on the web.
Image posts for photos, screenshots, and memes.
Poll posts to ask the colony to vote between a few options.
Editing and deletingOpen the post or comment menu and choose Edit to fix a typo or update the text — an "edited" label will show alongside it.
Choose Delete to remove your own post or comment at any time; it disappears from the colony but replies to it may remain.
- Colonies
Colonies are the communities that make up Yelling Ant, each built and looked after by its own members.
Getting a colony started:
Choose a name and topic for your colony
Set your colony rules and description
Decide who can post or comment
Once a colony is live, you can:
Follow it to keep its posts in your feed
Mute a colony you joined to stop seeing it without leaving
Every colony's rules are pinned to its page — read them before you post, since moderators can remove content that breaks them.
- Moderation & Reports
How to report something and what happens next:
Tap the report flag on any post, comment, or profile and pick the reason that best fits.
Reports first go to the colony's volunteer moderators, who use auto-mod, the moderation queue, and their colony wiki to review and act on them.
Sitewide issues, like harassment or ban evasion, are also reviewed by platform staff who enforce the content policy across every colony.
Appeals: If your post, comment, or account was actioned and you think it was a mistake, use the Appeal link in the notification you received to ask for another look.
- Account & Privacy Settings
From Settings, you can manage:
Profile visibility: choose what other members can see on your profile.
Blocked accounts: review or remove people you've blocked at any time.
Notifications: turn comment replies, upvote alerts, and colony announcements on or off individually.
Data & downloads: request a copy of your account data or delete your account entirely.
- Safety
Your safety tools:
Block: stops a user from contacting you or seeing your posts and comments.
Mute: hides a user's posts and comments from your feed without blocking them outright.
Report harassment: use the report flag and select Harassment so our safety team can step in quickly.
Ban evasion: accounts created to get around a colony or platform ban are removed when detected.
- Rewards & Coins
Rewards and coins are how members recognize great posts and comments, including:
Give a reward from the post or comment menu to highlight content you found valuable
Buy coin bundles from the Coins page in your wallet
Track your reward and coin history in your profile
Some rewards unlock small perks, like a profile badge (if applicable)
Coin purchases are handled securely through your device or browser's payment provider.
- Videos, Podcasts, Articles, Polls & Quizzes
Beyond regular posts, some colonies support richer content formats:
Video
Podcast episodes
Long-form articles
Polls
Quizzes (where enabled by the colony)
These appear in your feed alongside standard posts and can be voted on and commented on the same way.
- Advertisers & Businesses
Yelling Ant partners with advertisers and businesses to run ads alongside organic content, and offers a revenue-share program for eligible colonies and creators.

- Troubleshooting
Common issues and quick fixes:
Can't log in: use the Forgot Password link, and check that you're using the email or username tied to your account.
App acting up: force-close and reopen the app, or clear your browser's cache if you're on the web.
Post not showing up: it may be under moderator review — check the colony's rules or your notifications for an update.
